Once you have gone beyond the initial vegetative growth stage, you plants are primed to explode into the flowering stage. Problem is this - if you have been using only metal halide lights up to this point, your plants will probably never flower. Now that you have thick, stocky vegetative growth from the blue light emitted by metal halide or blue LED grow lights, you need to follow it up with the appropriate amount of red/orange light given off by high pressure sodium grow lights. Light from this end of the spectrum supports and encourages fruits, vegetables, and flowers to grow at incredible rates - especially when partnered with a hydroponic system.
