LED Grow Light Company Review – ProSource Worldwide

ProSource LED Grow Lights

This post is now outdated - please refer to this site.

For those of you that are new to this site, let me give you some background. I began this site a couple years ago to help cut through the hype and marketing baloney that we are given by LED grow light manufacturers. Broken promises of massive yields, huge coverage areas, and cost reductions of 90% or more made early adopters of this technology jaded and convinced that it was just a pipe-dream, a scam. I have made it my personal goal to test as many LED grow lights as I can get my hands on, showing you realistic results, and publishing information on good companies on this website so you all can make an informed decision.

So having tested several lights already and with 8 more different brands on the test bench as I write this, you can be sure that I have seen some great lights and some tremendously disappointing ones. One thing to know though, I will ONLY publish information about a company and light that I can fully support - in this case, I am talking about ProSource Worldwide.

ProSource Worldwide - Company Profile

ProSource was one of the first companies I started investigating back in 2009 when I was new to the idea of growing with LEDs. They are based in Deerfield Beach, Florida . . . about an hour north of Miami. Douglas Cochrane, the owner, has dedicated 4+ years to learning and refining LED grow light technology.

At the time, the LED grow light industry was kind of like the wild west - with no one around to lay down the law, companies were free to claim just about anything like "one 90W can replace 3000W of HPS" to "use this light and you can walk on water." Problem was that people's growing experiences never matched, or even approached, the stated claims. On top of that, many company's offerings were riddled with power supply failures due to low quality components and poor heat regulation causing premature failure rates to exceed 25% in some cases.

After speaking with Doug, ProSource's owner, over the years, I learned that the power supply problems and poor yields that plagued early models from many manufacturers do not affect his products because of thorough research and testing. A special emphasis has not only been placed on build quality but also on the science that goes into selecting the exact wavelengths of light to ensure a healthy, bountiful grow. You don't just have to take my word for it, take a look at this video of a commercial medical marijuana grow using Illuminator LED grow lights.

ProSource Customer Service & Product Warranty

Unlike some LED companies out there, ProSource is based in the USA - Florida. Customer support staff are native English speakers who actually understand how to grow most plants and have an appreciation for plant biology. This company isn't just out to hock a light for a few bucks, they live and breathe LEDs so they know the technology inside and out. When you have a question about your light or about growing, they are always willing and able to answer it for you.

ProSource also has a generous 90 day guarantee along with a 3 year warranty. They let you actually try the light out for up to 90 days . . . if you don't like the results, you can return it - no questions, no crazy restocking fees. I actually know of one company that offers a paltry 15 day return policy and another company that has NO RETURN policy. After working closely with them for 2+ years, I know of this happening 2 times out of thousands of orders. In addition, in the rare event that a light fails, they are very quick to get a new one shipped out to you.

ProSource is a great company with a solid line of products that are worthy of a spot in your grow room. Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to help you out. I highly recommend you check them out!
